SoLAR Flare UK analytics meetup
Tomorrow we host the first national meetup on learning analytics, one of the
SoLAR “Flares” lighting up all round the world, following the gathering in the US, with Sydney next week…
This is the first UK gathering dedicated to the exploding field of Learning Analytics. Under the auspices of Society for Learning Analytics Research and sponsored by The Open University & JISC Centre for Educational Technology and Interoperability Standards, this inaugural UK Flare invites you to learn what’s going in the country, and forge valuable new connections. Sheila MacNeill from JISC-CETIS will also launch their fantastic new series of reports on the state of the art in Learning Analytics – and where the future may go.
SoLAR defines learning analytics as “the measurement, collection, analysis and reporting of data about learners and their contexts, for purposes of understanding and optimizing learning and the environments in which it occurs.”
Part of SoLAR’s mission is to improve the quality of dialogue within and across the many stakeholders impacted by Learning Analytics. We therefore invite technology specialists, researchers, educators, ICT purchasing decision-makers, senior leaders, business intelligence analysts, policy makers, funders, students, and companies to join us in Milton Keynes for this inaugural event.
We’ve designed the day to maximise social learning including:
- plenty of opportunity to meet with peers and explore collaboration possibilities
- the chance to hear — and share — lightning updates on what’s happening (step up to do one on the registration form)
- the opportunity to shape future Flares
