Visualizing Argumentation – new book published
A new book published this month identifies the emergence of an exciting new field – the computer-supported visualization of argument structure. Co-edited by KMi's Simon Buckingham Shum, this volume brings together leading figures from around the world who have pioneered argument mapping in different contexts. Case studies ranging over scholarly publishing, public policy formulation, strategic planning and academic study will make it of interest to practitioners and researchers from diverse backgrounds.
The book traces the hypertext trail from pioneers Vannevar Bush and Doug Engelbart, via the dominant graphical argumentation theme in semantic hypertext research from the mid-80s, through to more recent work on scholarly hypertext, critical thinking tools, and argument visualization over the semantic web.
